Support the Reopening of the Nolichucky Gorge: Sign NORA's Letter Today

Updated: Apr 14

In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation in September 2024, the Nolichucky Gorge—a cherished natural treasure in our community—faced significant challenges. Access to this vital area has been restricted, impacting not only the environment but also the livelihoods of those who depend on it for recreation and tourism.

The Nolichucky Outdoor Recreation Association (NORA) is actively advocating for the reopening of the Nolichucky Gorge. To amplify our collective voice, we've drafted a Letter of Support addressed to local and state authorities, emphasizing the importance of restoring access to this beloved area.

Why Your Support Matters:

Environmental Stewardship:

Reopening the gorge allows for continued conservation efforts and responsible enjoyment of its natural beauty.

Economic Revitalization:

Local businesses, guides, and outfitters rely on the gorge for their livelihoods. Restoring access supports our community's economic recovery.

Community Well-being:

The gorge offers recreational opportunities that promote physical health and mental well-being for residents and visitors alike.

How You Can Help:

We invite you to join us in this endeavor by adding your name to our Letter of Support. Your signature will demonstrate to decision-makers the widespread community backing for reopening the Nolichucky Gorge.

Railroads have always received excessive concessions from the U$A. Streams and rivers have not. Those who wrote the Constitution envisioned a largely-rural agrarian democracy; they would be appalled at the largely-urban industrialized empire which has evolved. The Land and the People deserve far, far better. Blocking public access to the Nolichucky just proves -- more dramatically than usual -- that $atan Rule$ the U$A. 😢
