🌊 After the Storm: Community Riparian Restoration Talk

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 | 4:30–7:30 PM

701 Bailey Lane, Erwin, TN 37650

Rebuilding Our Rivers, Together

The Nolichucky River region has weathered a challenging year of storms, flooding, and recovery work. Across Unicoi County, landowners, agencies, and volunteers have been hard at work stabilizing streambanks, planting native vegetation, and rebuilding the natural infrastructure that protects our communities and waterways.

To continue this important dialogue, the Nolichucky Outdoor Recreation Association (NORA) will host After the Storm: Community Riparian Restoration Talk — an evening dedicated to sharing progress, resources, and collaborative solutions for riparian recovery.

Event Overview

4:30–5:30 PM | Partner Tables & NetworkingBefore the presentations begin, participants can meet one-on-one with local, state, and federal partners to learn about funding programs, technical assistance, and restoration strategies available to landowners and community groups.

5:30–7:30 PM | Presentations & DiscussionA series of short presentations will highlight lessons learned from ongoing projects, effective streambank stabilization techniques, and upcoming opportunities for community involvement. Speakers will share updates on current restoration work throughout the Nolichucky watershed and discuss how we can build greater resilience together.

Why It Matters

Riparian zones — the green buffers along creeks and rivers — are vital to healthy ecosystems. They filter runoff, prevent erosion, support wildlife, and reduce flood impacts. When these areas are damaged, the whole watershed feels the effects.

This event brings together the people and organizations working on the front lines of recovery to coordinate efforts, share resources, and empower residents to take part in restoring our shared landscape.
